Two approaches, woven together.

My goal is to partner with you in discovering your own, unique ability to heal. Most of that work happens through two approaches, EMDR and talk therapy, woven together and shaped around your story.

EMDR

Eye Movement Desensitization & Reprocessing

EMDR is an extensively researched, evidence-based psychotherapy. As the EMDR International Association (EMDRIA) describes it, EMDR is proven to help people recover from trauma and other distressing life experiences — including PTSD, anxiety, and depression.

It’s a structured, eight-phase approach that helps the brain reprocess stuck, distressing memories so they no longer feel so raw. And, remarkably, this can happen without needing to talk through every painful detail. As that processing completes, the distress around a memory eases, the negative beliefs we carry about ourselves are reformulated, and the body finally settles.

Definition adapted from the EMDR International Association (EMDRIA)

Talk therapy

Counseling in its most familiar form

Talk therapy is counseling in its most familiar form, the two of us, in honest conversation. The American Counseling Association defines counseling as a professional relationship that empowers diverse individuals, families, and groups to accomplish mental health, wellness, education, and career goals.

Decades of research point to counseling’s real and lasting impact on wellbeing. One of its quietest gifts is resilience — our capacity to adapt and grow in the face of adversity, which research tells us can be cultivated and strengthened over time.

I work primarily from a Narrative Therapy lens, integrating person-centered, attachment-based, mindfulness-based, and embodiment practices, together drawing out the resilience and strength that already live within you.

The goal of our work is never to follow a single method, it’s to thoughtfully integrate the therapeutic approaches that best fit you, your needs, and your unique strengths, so the path toward healing is genuinely your own.

Areas of deep experience

Where I have the deepest experience

These are some of the areas I work in most often, where EMDR and talk therapy tend to do their most powerful work together. They’re among the top reasons people reach out — but far from the only ones. Most clients turn out to be good candidates for this work, whatever brought them in.

Birth trauma

Gently processing a difficult, frightening, or traumatic birth, and the distress that can follow into postpartum life.

For women seeking healing and liberation from the emotional and psychological pain of their birth story.

Veterans, service members & first responders

Honoring what you carried in service, and working through the trauma and stress that came home with you.

For those who may be suffering silently — and who are ready to turn their bravery and unparalleled work ethic toward their own healing.

Insecure attachment

Understanding how your earliest relationships and relational patterns shaped the way you connect with yourself and others today, and moving toward more secure, trusting relationships.

Childhood trauma

Tending to painful experiences from early life that still echo, quietly, in the present.

Negative beliefs about ourselves

Releasing the unhelpful stories we carry, “I’m permanently damaged,” “I have to be perfect,” “I’m not enough,” “it’s all my fault,” and doing the courageous work of coming to believe something truer.

A history of abuse

Carefully and safely processing the lasting impact of past abuse, so its weight no longer defines how you see yourself or move through the world.

For those ready to loosen the grip of what happened to them and reclaim a sense of safety and self.

Who I work with

Many of my clients are thoughtful, high-functioning people who feel stuck repeating painful behavioral or relationship patterns, struggling with self-worth, or carrying stories about themselves that no longer serve them.

Frequently asked questions

What are your fees? Do you take insurance?

I’m in network with Aetna in Texas. Otherwise, sessions are private pay at $140. If you have other insurance, I can give you a superbill (a detailed receipt) to submit to your insurance company. If your plan includes out-of-network benefits, you may be reimbursed for a portion of each session. Please ask me if you have any questions.

Do you offer virtual sessions?

Yes. I see clients in person in Lubbock, and virtually for anyone located anywhere in Texas.

How do I get started?

Call or email me for a free 15-minute consultation. We’ll talk about what brings you in and whether we’re a good fit, and find a time for your first session from there.

What can I expect in our first session?

Mostly, we’ll get to know each other. There’s no pressure to share more than you’re ready to. We’ll talk about your story and hopes, and begin shaping a plan that honors your pace.

How often will we meet?

I generally recommend weekly or bi-weekly sessions to begin with. Typically this is decided in the consultation call based on what is bringing you into therapy, how often you can financially access therapy, and schedule availability. As you begin to feel relief, we will begin to taper sessions down to the frequency that best supports you, bi-weekly may become monthly, and then as-needed, for example.
