Meet the owner
Hi, I'm McKaley.
I'm a Licensed Professional Counselor and the owner of Telos Counseling in Lubbock, Texas. My goal is to partner with you in discovering your own, unique ability to heal, because I believe hope, wholeness, and peace are all possible, even when we need a companion to help us find them.
My story
How I came to this work
I began my career during the 2020 pandemic, working in outpatient mental health at a local hospital with children and teens. It was a demanding season, and an invaluable one. It taught me how resilient people are, and how much steadier the path becomes when someone is walking it alongside you.
After completing my master's, I opened my private practice in 2022. Today I see clients from all walks of life, doing much of my work through EMDR, alongside talk therapy from a Narrative Therapy lens, integrating person-centered, attachment-based, and embodiment practices.
I came to this work after witnessing, firsthand, how love, acceptance, and hope can heal, across cultures, languages, and every kind of barrier. It was a truth I couldn't unsee. I believe deeply in redemption, hope, and honesty, and in each person's capacity to find their way back to wholeness.
It's important to me to create a safe, non-judgmental space where uniqueness and individuality are not just accepted but celebrated. I welcome your honest self, and honor you as a valued member in the family of things.
A little about me
Outside the therapy room
When I'm not with clients, you'll most often find me with a good book, with friends or family, learning ceramics, or working out. These are practices I believe in for the mind as much as the body. I'm a firm believer that the small, ordinary rhythms of a life are where a lot of the healing quietly happens.
How I work
An approach built around you
I'm trained in EMDR through EMDRIA, and I work primarily from a Narrative Therapy lens, integrating person-centered, attachment-based, mindfulness-based, solution-focused, trauma-focused, and embodiment practices. Which of these we lean on depends entirely on you, your story, and what you need.
Warm & non-judgmental
A space where your honest self is welcome and celebrated, exactly as you are.
Gentle & at your pace
We move at the speed of trust. Healing is never rushed or forced here.
Rooted in hope
I believe in redemption, honesty, and each person’s capacity to heal and grow.
